Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941, in Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, he moved with his family from Nebraska to Casper in the western part of Wyoming and his father directed the local district of soil conservation in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
